Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions, we have answers.
What ages do you work with?
We typically see children and teens from 18 months up to 18 years. If your child is outside this range, reach out—we can usually point you to the right resource.
Can we do everything virtually?
Yes. Both the single‑visit consults and follow-up appointments can happen over secure video if you’re in a state where Dr. Joy is licensed – CA, MN, OR and WA.
How soon can we book?
Most consult slots open within 1–2 weeks. Sprout Start launches within 2–3 weeks once your intake forms are complete.
Is this covered by insurance?
We operate as an out‑of‑network specialty practice. Many families use HSA/FSA funds or submit superbills to private insurance for possible reimbursement.
Are lab tests included in the price?
Lab costs are separate and may be cash pay or billed through insurance. We offer many specialty labs that are not covered by insurance. We’ll discuss which (if any) labs make sense before ordering.
What happens after Sprout Start if we still need help?
You can transition into our Thrive or Nourish ongoing‑care packages, or schedule follow‑up visits à la carte—whatever level of support fits best.
Do I need a referral?
My child already has an autism or ADHD diagnosis—does Sprout Start still help?
Absolutely. We dig deeper into co‑occurring issues such as sleep, nutrition, gut health, and executive function, then build a comprehensive care plan that complements existing therapies.
